What is Lunchtime Live?

Lunchtime Live is a weekly series of live videos on my YouTube channel. It’s a chance for us to chat about what’s new at Stitches n Scraps. Think of it as a video newsletter, where you can participate too! I start each episode with a look at the latest posts on the blog. Then I move on to any announcements and sneak peeks at what’s coming up in the following week. Finally, I end the episode with a demo or short tutorial.

For 2022, the demo portion will be a featured stitch of the week. I’ll show you a different stitch pattern each week, alternating between knit and crochet stitches.

Watch Live, or Watch Later!

Tune in here to watch live at 11:30 am, US Central Time on March 31st, 2022. Join in the conversation with the live chat! You’ll be able to ask questions and leave comments, which I can respond to in the video.

If you can’t make it during the live broadcast, that’s ok – you can watch the full episode after it’s over.

Stitch of the Week: Knit Brick Stitch

This week’s stitch of the week is the knit brick stitch. This bold, 2-colored stitch is actually remarkably easy to do! It’s a great introduction to slip stitch mosaic knitting. Try it out in my Brick Stitch Washcloth pattern.

The swatch shows the following pattern, over a multiple of 12 + 5 sts:

Row 1 (RS): With B, k across

Row 2: P across, change to A.

Row 3: With A, k2, sl 1, [k5, sl 1] across to last 2 sts, k2

Row 4: K each color A st, sl each color B st

Row 5: P each color A st, sl each color B st.

Row 6: K each color A st, sl each color B st, change to B.

Row 7-8: Repeat rows 1-2

Row 9: With A, k5, [sl 1, k5] across.

Rows 10-12: Repeat rows 4-6.

Repeat rows 1-12 to desired length.

There are lots of possible variations for this pattern. In the video, for the sake of making it go faster, I’ll show you one variation with shorter “bricks”. We’ll also talk through other aspects you can change to get different looks.
