Do you love to knit socks? I know I do! That’s why I was so excited when Annie’s Kit Clubs sent me a free sock kit to review. I think you’ll love it as much as I do. Try one for yourself and see!

What is the Love to Knit Socks Club?
The Love to Knit Socks club is a subscription kit club just for sock knitters! Each kit includes a fun pattern, and enough scrumptious sock yarn to make a pair of socks. The kits come out approximately every 4 weeks.
With your first kit, you’ll get a basic sock pattern, along with access to an in-depth sock knitting tutorial. That’s the kit I got for this review. This is a perfect way to learn to knit socks, as well as a great refresher for experienced sock knitters!
The Pattern
The sock pattern that came with my kit is called Simply Sweet, and that’s a perfect name for it! It’s a basic, top-down sock with a traditional heel flap, turning, and gusset. It was clear, accurate, concise, and well written. Pretty much what I have come to expect from Annie’s patterns.

It has been years since I last knit this style of socks, so it was fun to revisit the techniques. I (mostly) followed the pattern exactly as written. One major change I made was to work both socks at once with the magic loop technique, instead of one at a time on double-pointed needles.

The pattern included 3 sizes, from women’s size 5-10. My enormous clown feet are actually bigger than that, but I was able to work to an ever so slightly looser gauge for a perfect fit.

Just Sock Yarn
I’ve been meaning to try this yarn from Shirsty Cat Designs for a while now, so I was thrilled to find it in my kit! The yarn is a 75% superwash merino / 25% nylon blend, which is soft, strong, and perfect for socks.

It comes in absolutely stunning, hand-dyed colorways too. The color I got is called Amorphous. Look at the deep, rich purple shades and the random speckles! My favorite part is the small sections of green that popped up here and there as I was knitting.
I’ve seen this yarn at various shows and conferences but never did try it out. The kits in the Love to Knit Socks club feature different sock yarns, so it gives you a chance to try yarns you may not otherwise try.
