What is the Bag Along CAL?
Every 2 months in 2022, I’ll release a new, free crochet pattern for a bag. The size, style, and type of bag will vary so that we can explore lots of different techniques.
See the main 2022 Bag Along CAL post for the full schedule and more details.
Knit Picks Dishie Twist
WeCrochet has provided all the lovely Knit Picks yarns for these bag designs. For this bag, we’ll be using Dishie Twist. With two colors plied together, it’s a new twist on classic cotton!
I used the color Conch for my bag, but any of the colors would work well. If you prefer solid colors rather than the twisted look, try regular Dishie instead.
Feeling adventurous? Mix both solid and twisted colors! Use 1 color for the base of your bag and another for the top. If you do this, you will need 1 extra skein for the bottom color. The bottom uses less than a full skein (around 100 yds), but the top uses more than 2 full skeins so you will still need 3 skeins for the top.
Bag #4 Materials List
- Yarn: 3 skeins of Knit Picks Dishie Twist – 100% cotton, worsted weight yarn (190 yds / 100g per skein). Shown in color #28247 – Conch.
- Hook: US size H / 5mm hook or size needed to match gauge
- Notions:
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Circular bag handles (see note below)
- 1-2″ button (optional)
Circular bag handles come in a variety of sizes, materials, and colors. Any size between about 4″ and 8″ in diameter should be fine. The bag may sit a little differently depending on the diameter. Any color or material you like is fine as well. I used brown, wood handles that are about 5.4″ in diameter.
Gauge:
15 ldc x 9 rounds = 4 inches.
The first section of the pattern can be used as a gauge swatch.

I love WeCrochet, now Crochet.com. I really like Mighty Stitch. It is super soft. Dishie is great too. I will be using Kenai and another color for my bag. I like Hobo bags and I don’t have a hook gauge. I could use one as I inherited some hooks from my grandmotheer.

I have not tried the yarn before. Looking forward to trying it out. I also have never tried your hooks either. I must be behind the times, I need to get busy and try it all.

I have a couple skeins in 3 different colors, but haven’t used them yet. I prefer square bottom bags. I don’t have any mystery hooks and haven’t used a hook gauge measure tool.
