Woodpeckers Crafts – Product Review and Giveaway
Earlier this year, Woodpeckers Crafts sent me some free samples of their products to use in patterns and projects. I’ve made 3 very different projects with those samples: the Fearless crochet necklace pattern, peg doll angel crochet pattern, and yarn wrapped tree tutorial. Read more about the wood products I used for these projects, and enter the giveaway below for a chance to win some angels and trees for yourself!

Wood Rings
My Fearless necklace pattern was my first attempt at crocheting over wood. Most of the projects I had seen worked over rings involved covering the entire ring with crochet. When I got these wood rings, I thought the wood itself was very pretty. So I decided to leave some of it exposed and let the natural beauty of it show through.
The pieces come unfinished, and my friend Andee Graves from Mamas 2 Hands gave me the suggestion to finish the wood first to protect it. I used a tung oil finish and am glad I did. It made the wood really shiny and made the grain stand out a little more. I’ve worn this necklace now many times, to conferences, guild events, classes, and even just out with friends. It is one of my favorites, and always gets noticed.
Peg Doll Angels
Next, I made some peg doll angels. These little peg doll people come in all different shapes and sizes. The angels I used for this pattern are the medium size, which is 2 inches tall, and I made the dress and wings in crochet thread. If you prefer to use a slightly thicker yarn, you may want to try the larger, 3.5 inch angels.
I know it’s a bit early in the year for Christmas projects, but I knew some of you may make a lot of these and may want them ready early. I wanted to be sure everyone can get the wooden peg dolls and make as many angels as they want before the holiday decorations go up.
As it turns out, it was perfect timing. No sooner did I finish these angels than I found out my husbands aunts were coming to visit. I had made 3 angels, and including my mother-in-law, there are 3 sisters. I was so happy to have one for each of them! These angels make a great gift for the angels in your life, any time of year. Make them in all different colors, and you’ll always have some on hand for last minute gifting.
Yarn Wrapped Tree
I put down the crochet hook for this quick and easy project, made with miniature wooden pine trees. This is another craft that’s perfect for the holidays but also has year round potential. Use them in those dioramas the kids have to make for school, or as props for tabletop gaming, or wherever else you might need a miniature tree.
These were so much fun to make, and would even be a great project for kids. Woodpeckers Crafts offers discounted pricing for larger quantities (as of the time I am writing this), so it’s perfect for groups too! Make them as a school project, in scouting or camping groups, or as a fun party activity.

I would make an angel, but would do the tree differently to use all year. I would like a nice holly tree partially over the wooden tree (after it is stained).

I love your angels and trees. I have used Woodpecker products in the past and had great success. I do not have a blog so I cannot leave a blog comment.

I would make a Christmas garland with the rings and the Christmas tree would be used in a winter scene that I put in my front window every Christmas.
