Best of 2022 – Top 10 Patterns and Tutorials
I feel like 2022 just started, and it’s already over! It was a fun year, packed with new patterns, tutorials, make-alongs and much more. Here’s a look at the best of 2022, plus a few sneak peeks at 2023!
New in 2022
Stitches n Scraps Yarn Shop
The Stitches n Scraps Yarn Shop has been growing! We started in 2021 with 4 lines of King Cole yarns. This year we added more colors in each of those, plus 3 new yarns as well.
Of all of them, your favorite by far has been the King Cole Raffia yarn. At first everyone wanted only the natural colorway, but recently some of the other fantastic colors have become popular as well. Which one is your favorite?
Lunchtime Live Stitch of the Week
Each week, I go live on YouTube to tell you all about what’s happening at Stitches n Scraps. Lunchtime Live itself isn’t new, in fact this year we hit our 100th episode! What was new this year was the stitch of the week theme.
At the end of every video, I try to do a special feature or demo. This year, alternating between knit and crochet, we worked our way through 24 knit stitches and 23 crochet stitches!
For 2023, I plan to change things up a bit again. This year I’ll highlight featured products and coupons some weeks, with tutorials and demos for other weeks.
Best of 2022 – Make Alongs
Knitting and crochet don’t have to be solitary hobbies. Join in the fun of knit alongs and crochet alongs! Participants all create the same items, sharing and chatting about their progress along the way. Best of all, the usually have some great giveaways attached!
I co-host the CAL Central crochet-along group on Facebook, along with several other designers. Between that group and other events, we’ve had a lot of opportunities to knit and crochet together.
CAL Central Crochet
At CAL Central, we had 5 crochet alongs this year. We started the year off with the Cozy at Home CAL, followed by our always fun Softie CAL. As the weather warmed up, we moved to the Summer Quickies CAL. Finally we had our two most popular events, the Halloween CAL, and Holiday Stashdown CAL.
This schedule worked out so well in 2021, that we kept it the same for 2022 and plan to continue these same events for 2023! The announcement for the 2023 Cozy at Home CAL will be coming soon.
2022 Bag Along CAL
The Scrappy Stitchers Facebook group is home to the Stitches n Scraps make alongs. In 2022, we made 6 lovely bags in the 2022 Bag Along CAL!
With two full months for each pattern, we had plenty of time for in-depth tutorials. Each bag had 2 or 3 technique tutorials to go along with the pattern.
I am currently not planning any make-along events specifically on Stitches n Scraps for 2023. I will still be participating in the make-along events on CAL Central, and others.
Other Events
I had the pleasure of participating in a few other make-along events this year too.
- Tunisian Blanket CAL with the Knitter Knotter
- The annual afghan CAL on Moogly
- Christmas in July Make Along with Underground Crafter
- Scarf of the Month CAL and Hat of the Month CAL, hosted by Oombawka Design and The Stitchin’ Mommy
- Giftstravaganza CAL with Underground Crafter
I plan to participate in most of these again this year, plus more if I can!
