Free Pattern – Twilight Reverie
With the Blueberry Hill shawl, we worked lover’s knots in a rectangle. This capelet uses the same basic stitch, but with added shaping. It’s just the right weight to warm bare shoulders on a breezy spring or summer evening, and can be worn with the opening in front, or over one shoulder. It works up quickly with the Red Heart Boutique Infinity and Twilight yarns. These soft, bulky yarns both have a little hint of metallic sparkle in them too. This pattern is protected by copyright. Please do not distribute or share this pattern in any way other than by sharing a link to this page or to the pattern…

Tutorial – Diagonal Box Stitch
The diagonal box stitch is one of many stitches that can be worked from “corner to corner” (c2c), and it’s everywhere right now. This wildly popular stitch is great for blankets, but can also be used for scarves, sweaters, or just about anything else! Because it’s worked diagonally across the fabric, it creates nice diagonal stripes when used with self striping yarns. It’s also made up of small boxes that can act as “pixels”, so works well for graphed images too. It can be a little intimidating the first time, but it’s made up of easy stitches – nothing more than chains and double crochet. Here’s how you do it: The first…

Lover’s Knots Shawl – Blueberry Hill
You can't possibly be blue wearing (or making) this pretty lover's knots shawl! It's light and airy when draped over bare shoulders and looks great with a shawl pin, or scrunch it up and use it as a scarf. The lacy, open, design works up quickly and uses very little yarn for such a big piece.

Tutorial – Solomon’s Knot / Lover’s Knot
The Solomon’s knot or Lover’s knot stitch (lk) is a fast and easy way to create beautiful, lacy fabrics. The actual stitch is very simple – an extended chain combined with a single crochet. Here’s how you do it: Pull up a working loop to the desired length. If you are following a pattern, it should specify the length. Most often, the lks at the edges of your work will need to be a bit shorter than the rest of the lks. Now holding your loop in place, yarn over and draw through, just as though you were making a chain, but do not tighten it. What you now have is a…

We had 3 lovely entries in last week’s link party – not bad for the first week, but let’s see if we can get more this week! Free Pattern – Plaid Scarf
Last year, at the Knit and Crochet Show, I took a class called “Mad About Plaid” taught by Michelle Hunter of Knit Purl Hunter. She showed us this brilliant way to create a plaid design with a combination of knitting and crochet techniques. Be sure to check out her site for some beautiful patterns, and an extensive library of tutorials. If you ever get a chance to take her class, I highly recommend it! This scarf pattern is much easier to make than it looks, and does not involve complicated colorwork techniques. Each row is a single color, and the columns are worked later. The knitting part of the pattern is available as…
