What is Lunchtime Live?

Lunchtime Live is a weekly series of live videos on my YouTube channel. It’s a chance for us to chat about what’s new at Stitches n Scraps. Think of it as a video newsletter, where you can participate too! I start each episode with a look at the latest posts on the blog. Then I move on to any announcements and sneak peeks at what’s coming up in the following week. Finally, I end the episode with a demo or short tutorial.

For 2022, the demo portion will be a featured stitch of the week. I’ll show you a different stitch pattern each week, alternating between knit and crochet stitches.

Stitch of the Week: Crochet Stairstep Stitch

This week’s stitch of the week is the crochet stairstep stitch. It’s similar to an overlay mosaic pattern in that the background stitches are all worked in back loops, leaving the front loops unused. Tall stitches then drop down into those unused front loops to create the stairstep design.

It’s a bit different from overlay mosaic in that all the stitches are worked in one direction, and you’re dropping down more rows than normal.
