What is Lunchtime Live?
Lunchtime Live is a weekly series of live videos on my YouTube channel. It’s a chance for us to chat about what’s new at Stitches n Scraps. Think of it as a video newsletter, where you can participate too! I start each episode with a look at the latest posts on the blog. Then I move on to any announcements and sneak peeks at what’s coming up in the following week. Finally, I end the episode with a demo or short tutorial.
For 2022, the demo portion will be a featured stitch of the week. I’ll show you a different stitch pattern each week, alternating between knit and crochet stitches.
Watch Live, or Watch Later!
Tune in here to watch live at 11:30 am, US Central Time on May 11th, 2022. Join in the conversation with the live chat! You’ll be able to ask questions and leave comments, which I can respond to in the video.
If you can’t make it during the live broadcast, that’s ok – you can watch the full episode after it’s over.
Stitch of the Week: Crochet Block Stitch
This week’s stitch of the week is the crochet block stitch. The simple, 2 row repeat creates an open and airy texture with amazing drape!
First you make a row of 3-dc blocks, then you make a row of chain spaces on top of those blocks, to set you up for the next row. Here’s how it works:
Chain a multiple of 4 + 3
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped chs count as additional dc), dc in each of next 2 chs, [ch 1, sk next ch, dc in each of next 3 chs] across to last ch, dc in last ch.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, ch 3, sk next 3 dc, [sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 3, sk next 3 dc] across to last dc, sc in last dc.
Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc) turn, 3 dc in next ch-3 sp, [ch 1, sk next sc, 3 dc in next ch-3 sp] across to last sc, dc in last sc.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 to desired length. We’ll work through this pattern together, and talk about various modifications.
