Knit & Crochet Show 2016 – Class Reviews

I had so much fun at the Knit and Crochet Show in Charleston this year that it won’t all fit in one post! I want to tell you all about it, so I’m breaking it up into separate posts.  I took 6 classes, which made for quite a full schedule, so I’m going to start with those:   Bruges Lace with Mary Beth Temple This was my first time meeting and taking a class with Mary Beth. She’s so much fun! I’ve worked with Bruges lace before, but only the basics, so I was excited to learn a little more. We made a swatch that curved back and forth, a circle, and started working…

Have you started your holiday crafting yet? We saw a few holiday items in the July link up…I wonder if we’ll see more this month! Congrats to My Places for the most clicked link in July – this beautiful mandala called Milis Sommarblommor. She has a matching curtain too! Be sure to link up your projects this month, so you can be featured next month. Remember, it doesn’t have to be a pattern – just a picture of something you made. • Squares 16-20 - the Anthology Blanket by the Underground Crafter on StitchesNScraps.com

Knitting Along 4 – Anthology Blanket by the Underground Crafter

I’m still knitting along on the Anthology Blanket Knit Along on Underground Crafter, and we’re on square 21 already! I got a bit behind, but have managed to catch up again. I showed you my first 5 squares, squares 6-10 and squares 11-15. Now here are squares 16-20. From left to right, top to bottom, there’s Mini Dots, Bamboo Poles, Dots, Diagonal Moss Stripe, and Single Basketweave. As you can see, I ran out of solid colors and switched to self striping. The textures are much more visible on the solid colors, but this is my last color of similar yarn in my stash. I’m hoping I will have enough to finish the blanket, but…

    A box from Red Heart

Look what I got in the mail! This post contains affiliate links. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, I may be compensated. I love getting boxes from Red Heart, there’s always something fun and unexpected in them. Want to see inside this one? It’s a package highlighting their new Baby Hugs yarn! I’ve seen some lovely patterns with this yarn, and am excited to try it out for myself. The yarn is much softer and fluffier than I expected, and the literature says it is tested for harmful substances, and certified baby safe. In the box is 2 skeins of yarn, a 3″ natural beeswax maple…

  • Squares 11-15 - Anthology Blanket KAL

Knitting Along 3 – Anthology Blanket by the Underground Crafter

We’re a little more than halfway through the Anthology Blanket Knit Along on Underground Crafter! We’ve finished 16 out of the 30 squares. I showed you my first 5 squares, and squares 6-10. I’m a little late in showing you squares 11-15, but here they are: From left to right, top to bottom, there’s Diagonal Broken Rib, Diagonal Rib, Tiny Triangles, Garter Stripes, and Purled Ladder. Just when I thought these were getting easier for me, I ran into issues. You can see the unevenness in the middle of the diagonal rib square. That’s because I made a mistake, didn’t notice it until several rows later, and dropped the stitches down to fix it…badly. Some…

  • Kristen - on StitchesNScraps.com

    Kristen

As many of you know, I spend most Friday evenings with a knitting/crochet group at my local yarn store. This past Friday, I got to meet someone new, and I thought you might like to meet her too. This is Kristen: Kristen is 8, and already crocheting like a pro. When I met her, she was working on a cupcake carrier – a very clever design that her mom taught her. After making holes around the edge of a plastic container, Kristen crocheted a poufy top with a draw string. The end result was a cute and sturdy bag with a nice flat bottom. I imagine this would make a great project…

    Scrappy Stitchers Link Party #18

There were two projects shared in last week’s link party – Granite Stitch Dishcloth by Kat’s Crochet Creations, and Gracie Baby Hat by Jessie at Home.     Things tend to slow down in the fiber arts world during the summer months, so the next few link parties are going to be 4 weeks long instead of weekly. Be sure to check back often, and link up all your projects! Now it’s your turn Remember, any fiber related project you’ve made is fine – it does not have to be your own design and you don’t have to have a blog.
