You’ve Got Options!
This crochet blanket square is my pattern for the CAL Central “You’ve Got Options” Crochet Along. This crochet along features squares that can be either 6 inches or 12 inches. Get a new square every week, and then put them all together for a project. Make all 6-inch squares, all 12-inch squares, or even combine the two! Will you make a scarf? A pillow? A blanket? You’ve got options!

Mitered Crochet
The Mitered square pattern combines single crochet and double crochet rows in mitered squares. See this page about the Magic of Mitered Crochet for a more detailed look at the construction of mitered squares (and other shapes too)!
King Cole Comfort Aran Yarn
I used King Cole Comfort Aran yarn for this crochet mitered square pattern. The acrylic and nylon blend is beautifully soft and smooth, with just a bit of shine to it.

I chose 3328 Grey and 333 Cream for a monotone/grayscale effect. This yarn comes in lots of lovely colors, from brights to pastels and neutrals. There are so many combinations to choose from!
Whipstitch Seam
The 12-inch version of the square requires seaming 4 smaller squares together. The sample shows a whipstitch seam through the wrong side loops, which is my favorite, simple seam for blanket squares. For a closer look at this seam, check out this whipstitch seam tutorial.
If you prefer a different, low profile seam, go for it! Make the project your own by choosing your favorite seaming method. Just avoid any wide seams that might expand the overall size too much.
Endless Arrangements
Create a mosaic of geometric designs with 6″ squares, 12″ squares, or any combination of the two. The possibilities are endless! Here are 2 possible designs, each using 24 of the 12″ squares. Note: These are collage images made from a photo of one square, intended to approximate what the arrangements would look like. These are not pictures of finished blankets.

When you add in the 6″ squares, you get even more options! What will you make with your squares?
