Simply Sweet Baby Sweater

This tutorial video shows the first section of the Simply Sweet Baby Sweater, which is the collar. It follows along with the written pattern, and you will need to refer to the pattern for specific stitch counts for the various sizes. You can find the Simply Sweet Baby Sweater pattern here.

This sweater is being released in 5 sections as part of the  Simply Sweet Raglan Baby Sweater KAL. This is section 1 – we’re just getting started! As I release each new section, I will add it to the pattern post. So that post will always have the most up to date and most complete version of the pattern. Check the KAL post to see when each section will be released.

Needles and Yarn

For this knit along project, I am using Knit Picks Brava worsted weight yarn, and Knit Picks Prism Options interchangeable needles.

Section 1 Video Tutorial

This top-down sweater starts at the collar, which is mostly standard, 1/1 ribbing. It’s knit flat with a buttonhole tab at the back to make it fit more easily over the baby’s head. After the collar, the rest of the sweater will be knit in the round.

The video highlights the alternating cable / seed stitch cast on, the buttonhole, and how to bind off in pattern for the buttonhole tab. I also have a much more in depth tutorial for this cast on, which you can find here.
