When it comes to crafting comfort, particularly for small or complex projects, excellent lighting makes all the difference. I was a bit skeptical when Vivilux first gave me a Rechargeable LED task lamp to review, but now I’m obsessed! Get one for yourself, and keep reading for a special coupon code too!

Who is ViviLux?

ViviLux is a line of LED lights, lasers, and accessories. It was developed by Harbor Sales owners, Dave and Abby Riba, who I met recently at a trade show. The company was new to me but seems to be well known in the sewing and quilting community.

LED Task Lamp

They let me choose from 4 different products to try out and review. I played with them all and then chose the LED task lamp. I’m so glad I did, because I absolutely love it!

Light Brightness

The most important aspect of any light is, of course, the lighting it provides. On the fluorescent bathed show floor, I was skeptical that the lamp would be powerful enough to be really useful.

But when I got it home, I was pleasantly surprised! The light it gives is bright and intense. It’s strong enough for beading in my dark, shadowy office.

LED Light Colors

The task lamp has 3 color settings – bright white, warm, and natural daylight. I almost always use bright white for crafting, but the natural daylight is phenomenal for quick photos.

Rechargeable Battery

You can use the lamp while it’s plugged in or charge it and use it wirelessly! It comes with a USB cord and wall plug for charging. Since the light is LED, it doesn’t draw all that much power, so the battery lasts for hours between charges. Indicators on the side light up to show the charge level.

If I’m using it consistently for more than a few hours, I usually have it plugged in. But when I’m using it in short bursts or more sporadically, I can go all day (or several days) without recharging.

I carry it all over the house for various projects and keep it next to me when I’m working on a new pattern. That way I can take clear WIP photos without having to stop and wait for daylight, or run to the basement to use my photo/video space lighting.

Charging pad and USB port

I thought I would use the wireless charging pad a lot more than I do. It charges my phone fairly quickly but drains the power from the lamp battery, so I end up needing to charge the task lamp sooner.

It’s great for “emergencies” (like when my phone is at 1% and the cord fell behind the couch and I don’t want to get up). Otherwise, I use that feature only occasionally, and only when the lamp is plugged in.

There’s a USB outlet on the side as well but I haven’t used that. I think it would be useful if I was working with other crafting tools that needed to be plugged in, I just haven’t done that yet.

Design of the LED Task Lamp

Overall the design is sleek and thoughtful. The gooseneck holds its position well and is long enough to get to where you need it, without being so long that it’s awkward to use.

The head of the light itself is oblong so it creates a wide field of light. I also really like the curves, but I’m not sure if that affects the function at all or is just pretty.

Other Vivilux Products

Craft Lights

Want bright lighting for a smaller space? Try the super bright, flexible LED Craft light! For a tiny lamp, it gives off a powerful, 1200 lumens of light. Attach it to any flat surface, or clip it on wherever you need it!

Clip-On Lights

In addition to the LED Task Lamp, Vivilux also gave me a pair of 3-in-1 clip-on LED lights. These are the neatest little things that clip onto your glasses, hat, or headband and rotate to put light right where you need it. They run off flat disc batteries and emit red, white, or green lights.

Vivilux Clip On lights

Unfortunately, I almost never wear glasses, hats, or headbands. But my husband does! The lighting is not the best over the table where we play board games, so I gave the set to him to use for that.

Lasers

Project a straight line, crosshairs, or a single point with a tiny, 3-in-1 laser! The lasers come in red or green. Use them for sewing, quilting, or even cutting fringe in a straight line. (Why is it SO hard to get fringe straight?)
