Jazzberry Baby Blanket Crochet Along
Learn intermeshing crochet in the Jazzberry Baby Blanket Crochet Along. If you’ve never done intermeshing crochet, this is a wonderful project to learn on. Join in the fun on the Stitches n Scraps Facebook group.
You can find the Jazzberry Baby Blanket pattern here. If you’d like to learn the technique, but don’t necessarily want to make a blanket, you can do that too. I’ve included information on adjusting the size, so you could even make it a washcloth instead.
There is also a photo and video tutorial for the Intermeshing technique, and of course some great prizes. Keep reading for details on how to participate and how to enter the giveaway!

Materials
- Paintbox Simply DK yarn – 1 skein (302 yds) each (for a 30 x 40 inch blanket):
- 146 Dusty Lilac (A)
- 141 Dusty Rose (B)
- 142 Tea Rose (C)
- 149 Candyfloss Pink (D)
- 143 Raspberry Pink (E)
- Size 7 / 4.5 mm hook, or size needed to obtain gauge
- Yarn needle
- Stitch marker or scrap piece of yarn (optional)
Love Crafts (the home of Love Knitting and Love Crochet) sent me the Paintbox Simply DK yarn for free for this design. I chose the Bella Coco Ombre Pack in Raspberry. This 5 skein pack contains the colors Candyfloss Pink (149), Dusty Rose (141), Tea Rose (142), Dusty Lilac (146) and Raspberry Pink (143)
I had very little yarn left over, particularly of the Dusty Lilac, which was my starting and ending color. You may want to buy an extra skein of whichever color you plan to start and end with. If you’re planning to make your blanket even a little larger, you will definitely need more of all the colors.
Throughout the pattern, you will be removing your hook from your work. You may want a stitch marker, safety pin, or even a scrap of yarn to secure your working loop when you remove your hook.

Schedule
The blanket is worked in 10 sections. We’ll start off slowly, with one section a week, then pick up speed after the 2nd section.
August 13th: Intermeshing Crochet Basics Tutorial – Learn the basics of Intermeshing crochet and get a little practice with the technique.
August 22nd: Gauge & Section 1 – Getting started is the hardest part, but after a few rows it will feel much easier. The gauge swatch is worked in pattern, so you can practice on a small piece before starting the full blanket.
August 29: Section 2 – Change one of the colors, and change the direction of the zig-zag pattern too!
September 5th: Sections 3 & 4 – We now have all the techniques we need, so we can start crusing through 2 sections at a time.
September 12th: Sections 5 & 6 – Halfway point!
September 19th: Sections 7 & 8 – Only 2 weeks left, time to get caught up if you’re behind.
September 26th: Sections 9 & 10 – The blanket is done! Be sure to share your pictures and enter the giveaway.
October 3rd: Giveaway deadline – get your entries in before it’s too late!

What size is the baby blanket? If I want to make it bigger, I can calculate how much more yarn I need. Thanks!
Pia Thadani
Great question! It’s 30 inches x 40 inches 🙂 I’ll add that into the post.

A washcloth would be perfect for me! What yarn would I use for that and about how much? Thanks!
Pia Thadani
The same yarn, or Paintbox makes a cotton DK yarn too – really any yarn you like for washcloths will work fine 🙂 As far as how much, that depends on how big your washcloth is and how many colors you are using. Generally though, I can’t see needing more than 1 skein of each color for a washcloth (unless the skeins are very tiny or your washcloth is very large).

I think I’ll start with a wash cloth as I’m working on a knitted blanket for my grandson right now. But I can see a winter afghan for his crib next using this pattern. I can’t wait to start getting my color combinations together!
