CAL Central Crochet Alongs

Stitches n Scraps is one of the moderating/organizing members of the CAL Central Crochet facebook group. The group hosts crochet-along events throughout the year. Here are my patterns and posts related to those events.

  • Mod Stripes Towel - a free crochet pattern on Stitches n Scraps

Free Pattern – Mod Stripes Towel

Funky, fun, and festive, everything about this towel is just a little bit off kilter. The uneven stripes have raised edges that flow in one direction, and the textured wattle stitch is an asymmetrical variation of the V stitch. You can even change the look entirely depending on how you fold it. Show off the bold striping pattern, or fold it in thirds lengthwise and it becomes solid red with a thin decorative border! With so many options to fit any decor, the Mod Stripes Towel makes a unique gift that can be used all year.

  • Stars & Stripes washcloth - a free crochet pattern on Stitches n Scraps

Free Pattern – Stars and Stripes Washcloth

Celebrate this summer with the Stars & Stripes Washcloth! This design works well for team or school colors too. The star stitch pattern is fast and fun to make, and gives the washcloth its fabulous, scrubby texture. A photo and video tutorial for the crochet star stitch is also available.

  • Free Pattern – Serrana the Mermaid

Meet my new friend Serrana! This sweet, 19-inch doll is sure to delight mermaid fans and amigurumi enthusiasts alike. She's a little bit sassy, completely adorable, and a whole lot of fun to make.

  • Free Pattern – Sleepy Snowman

Shhhh! This sweet little snowman is sleepy. He's had a busy day playing in the freshly fallen snow, and now he's resting, all cozy in his cap and scarf. Add a Sleepy Snowman to your holiday decor, or make one as a gift! He works up quickly, and is great for using up scraps.

  • Super Stretchy Leg Warmers - a free crochet pattern on StitchesNScraps.com

Free Pattern – Super Stretchy Leg Warmers

Stay toasty all day with these cozy leg warmers that combine retro fun with a bit of modern style! The ribbed fabric is dense and warm, and the vertical stripes in neutral colors are an attractive accent to a variety of different outfits. They are worked sideways, so only one color is used at a time.  As the name suggests, these are also super stretchy and fit a wide range of sizes, which makes them perfect for gifting!

  • Tropical Stripes Market Bag

Tropical Stripes Market Bag Crochet Pattern

Whether you're visiting a farmers market or spending the day at the beach, take the Tropical Stripes market bag with you! This market bag crochet pattern works up quickly with a lovely, all-over texture. Jacob's ladders add a decorative touch while also reinforcing the corners to minimize stretching.

  • Baby size non-stop slipper

Free Pattern – Non-stop slippers- Baby sizes

These boxy-toe slippers are worked all in one piece, never needing to break the yarn until you’re finished (unless you want to incorporate more colors). The sole is worked first, with the rest of the slipper built up from there, which makes it easy to add a 2nd sole for extra padding if desired. These slippers can also be a great blank canvas for your creativity – make them your own by working different sections in different colors, adding a drawstring around the ankle, or adding your favorite embellishments!
