Headbands are a wonderful anytime project. They’re small, fast, and easy to travel with. They can be the statement piece that pulls a look together, or they can just keep your hair out of your eyes. With 30 Knitted Headbands and Ear Warmers by Jenise Hope, you’ll have just the right one for any occasion.
Arranged by Technique
The 30 patterns are divided up into 4 groups according to the techniques used. It starts with knit and purl designs, then cables, lace, and finally colorwork.
Beginner to Advanced
Each section has designs of varying skill levels. For example, the cable section starts out with a basic cable headband, and ends with an intricate knot design. If you’re a new knitter, working your way through these patterns is a great way to learn new skills!
There is no traditional “skill level” listed for any of the patterns. Instead, the author explains which specific techniques will be used. I find this approach refreshing and so much more useful!
Written and Charted
Most of the patterns, with only a few exceptions, include a chart. I’m a huge fan of charts in general, and these are large, clear, and easy to read. To me, this is especially useful in the lace section.
Summer to Winter
The lace section in particular is full of light and airy headbands perfect for spring and summer. But there are also plenty of designs for colder weather. One of my favorites is the two-layered Blowing Leaves design in the colorwork section.
