My March KAL Progress
I’m making good progress on my red velvet cupcake cozy for this month’s KAL. The pattern is the The Fairy Cake Tea Cozy by Frankie Brown. So far I have the wrapper and the cake done, just the icing and assembly left to do.

Looking at it flat on the table, I thought there was no way it would fit my teapot. I was amazed by the stretchiness of the ribbing. It fits!
Pattern modifications
Larger needles
It is a little snug, so there’s quite a gap where the handle is. If I was to do it again I’d use one size larger needle so it wasn’t stretched quite as far. I would also do 2 extra rows to make it come down a little farther on the bottom.
Knitting in the round
I really dislike seaming, so I started knitting in the round. After a few rounds, just after the point where the pattern says to change the needle, I split the two sides and knit them separately in rows. When I changed to red, I joined up the spout side but continued knitting in rows. I joined the handle side when the needle size changed again, and continued in rounds to the end. I’m going to try to do the icing in rounds as well.

The Knitterly Hooker
It’s too cute! I hope to start mine this weekend. I hate seaming to but I wouldn’t know how to go in the round and where to leave the openings for handle and spout.

to be honest, I don’t think I saved myself all that much seaming by working in the round. Most of each side seam is left open for the handle and spout, so it’s really only a couple of inches of seaming, by the end of it. I’d suggest going ahead and doing it flat. It’s easier that way
