I finished it just in time! Here’s my March red velvet cupcake tea cozy:
The pattern is the The Fairy Cake Tea Cozy by Frankie Brown. It’s a cute pattern, and written very well. I wasn’t totally happy with it, but I think that was due to my own mistakes. I feel there isn’t enough red “cake” showing, and it’s too short – the bottom of my pot shows from underneath the “wrapper”:
This is probably because I tried to be clever and knit it in the round. After separating for the spout and handle, I think I joined back up again too soon on the spout side. The icing ended up overlapping the cake by quite a bit. I think I could have joined it later and it would have sat lower on the pot with more red showing.
Since I was close to my deadline, I saved a bit of time by gluing the buttons on top instead of sewing them down. I think smaller beads would have looked nicer – I may add some at some point, but for now I think it’s OK.
I feel like this one could have been my favorite cozy for the year, if I had done a better job of making it.
Next Tuesday is the 1st of April, which will be the official kick-off for the next cozy. No sneak preview this month, but the Ravelry group is still a great place to get tips and suggestions, and to follow everyone’s progress.
Remember, you can check out all the finished cozies on the Pinterest page. I will keep adding them as they are finished, so keep checking back for more! If you made one and I haven’t posted it there yet, please let me know (it may matter one day, you never can tell!)
If you post about your cozy, please remember to link your post back to the main Tea Cozy Tuesday page or to this post so everyone can check it out! Alternately, you can add a link in the comments here or on the main page. If you haven’t already, please do check out the main Tea Cozy Tuesday page for the button, rules, and other useful links.
