It’s finally here – it’s the first Tuesday in January! So here is the long awaited (at least by me) first tea cozy Tuesday post for the year 🙂
Those of you who saw the sneak preview last month already know that we’re starting things off with a knitting pattern. The January cozy will be the Aran Sweater Tea Cozy by Patons! This pattern is also available on Ravelry. I’m relatively new to cables so this pattern is a bit scary for me, but I could definitely use the practice, and it’s so pretty!
The majority of the pattern appears to be worked flat, but the “sleeves” are worked in the round. The instructions are written for double pointed needles, but 2 sets of circular needles or the magic loop technique on one set of circulars could certainly be used as well.
The materials needed for this pattern are:
- 208yds / 190m of worsted weight yarn. The recommended yarn is Patons® Décor
- Size 7 (4.5mm) needles – or size needed for gauge
- Set of 4, double pointed needles (or circular needles) in the same size
- Cable needle
- Stitch holder
- 3 toggle buttons
I’m thinking of using this as a stashbusting opportunity…but believe it or not I still have no idea which stash yarn I want to use. If you will be joining in for this pattern, please share your material choices, gauge swatches, and/or cast-ons next Tuesday. Remember to track back to the main Tea Cozy Tuesday page or include the nifty button (available on that page) in your post so we can see what you choose!
Please do check out the main Tea Cozy Tuesday page for the button, rules, and other useful links!
