A very bright and blessed Yule to all of you who celebrate it! My husband and I usually exchange one small present on the solstice evening each year. This year, I made him a pair of the ribbed fingerless mitts that I posted about yesterday.
I wanted this pair to be special, so I bought some Spud & Chloe Sweater in Firecracker. It’s a lot more money than I normally spend on yarn, but the feel and color were fabulous. I couldn’t stop petting it when I got it back from the store. Very smooshy and silky to work with!
It was a little heavier than the stash yarn I had been using before, which I actually liked. It took more yardage because of the extra bulk though, so I ended up running out just a few rows short. To make up the difference, I added some stripes of Wool Ease in Aloe. I really like the way the color combination turned out!
I think he liked them too, and he said they were very warm 🙂 I got some lovely fancy chocolates from him, and what could be better than that? Do you do anything to celebrate the solstice?
