Knitting Along 4 – Anthology Blanket by the Underground Crafter

I’m still knitting along on the Anthology Blanket Knit Along on Underground Crafter, and we’re on square 21 already!

I got a bit behind, but have managed to catch up again. I showed you my first 5 squares, squares 6-10 and squares 11-15. Now here are squares 16-20. From left to right, top to bottom, there’s Mini Dots, Bamboo Poles, Dots, Diagonal Moss Stripe, and Single Basketweave.

As you can see, I ran out of solid colors and switched to self striping. The textures are much more visible on the solid colors, but this is my last color of similar yarn in my stash. I’m hoping I will have enough to finish the blanket, but I’m going to be cutting it close.

I absolutely love the way the Diagonal Moss Stripe square turned out, though I struggled when making it. I had real trouble memorizing the pattern. The first time I tried, I messed up several rows near the beginning, but didn’t notice it till I was done. I frogged and tried again, this time just going through the pattern line by line and not trying to memorize it. That seemed to work better. My favorite to make was the Bamboo Poles square. The strong pattern was easy to see, and it was very fast to make.

I did finally weave in all the ends on my first 15 squares. I just took the whole stack with me to my LYS stitching group one night, and I was able to get through it in much less time than I thought.

I think I got pretty good at it by the time I was done. I can see where the end in this corner is woven in, but that’s because I know where it is. Can you see it?

Wow, what a great idea! I should bring my stack of squares when I hang out with friends – I think that’s probably the only way to weave in a lot of ends without going bonkers. I love the self-striping square and can’t wait to see how the rest come out!
