Free Pattern – Puffy Pinwheel Hat — 5 Comments

    • The problem you are going to have is the circumference, not the length. The largest size written here is for a 17″ circumference, and you’re going to want about 19 inches minimum for an adult size head. The pattern is written for a DK weight yarn – you could try doing it in a worsted weight yarn like Red Heart Soft instead and see if that gives you the size you need…depending on your gauge, the 12 month instructions worked in worsted weight may come out to the right size.

Check it as follows: Measure the circumference of your head, then subtract 2 inches and write that down. Work one section of the hat (including edging), measure the widest point, and multiply by 8. This should be somewhere in the neighborhood of the number you wrote down. (you’ll get a tiny bit more room from the joining, but not much).

Let me know how it works out!
