We’re 11 days in to the 2014 Finish It Challenge and I am already wishing I was done with my NNSB blanket. This challenge is just what I needed to push me to finish it, otherwise it would have been back in it’s home on the stash shelf again by now. I’m starting to get excited now though, because I’m very close to being done!
Before the month started, I measured and planned. I figured out I had to do 2 stripes a day. That’s 4 rows, or 8 half rows since this is Tunisian. Not easy, but manageable. At this pace, I expected to be finished crocheting by the 15th. That way I would have time to add all the fringe, plus enough time left over to fix any issues or add more rows if needed. I got a bit of a head start, and just have 2 stripes left. I’m hoping to finish the crochet part of this blanket today! Then I will lay it out and measure again and see if any more rows are needed.
Finishing my blanket is actually not the best part of this finish along though. I’ve gotten to work more closely with my wonderful co-host, Claire from Mollie & Claire. I’ve also had lots of fun meeting new people. The Finish It Ravelry group now has 41 members, and they’ve shared some lovely projects of all different kinds. There are actually 3 finished entries already!
This challenge extends through July, so there’s still time to join in. If you’re interested in joining us, here’s my Finish It Challenge 2014 rules post with the rules, badges, and links. We’re also still looking for sponsors for the final give-away. If you are interested in sponsoring a prize or know someone who might be, please let us know!
Coincidentally, my LYS actually started a longer term finish-along this month. The rules are completely different for that finish-along, so I’m able to enter not only my blanket, but lots more projects as well. It looks like I might be focusing on finishing for the rest of the year!
