I’m squeaking this in just under the wire – Week 11 of the Jake’s Blankie CAL on Jessie at Home actually starts today. My blanket though, is finished!
I managed to find more white. I’m not entirely sure it’s the same yarn, but if not, it’s very close. I found just enough to do the one row border, but that’s all it needed. I followed it with 5 more rows, alternating double and single, all worked into back loops, then finished it with a reverse sc edge. I decided I wanted this thinner border instead of the thicker one in the original pattern, as I wanted the squares to stand out more. Plus, my squares are bigger, and with only one color, the border isn’t as interesting on mine as it is on the original.
With the yarns I chose, this is a bit too heavy to be a baby blanket. It’s perfect however, as a lap / car blanket for a 4 year old. A particular 4 year old, in fact, who is becoming a big brother this year. After all, why should the baby get all the presents? I hope he likes it.
