Week 10 – Jake’s Blankie Crochet Along
Have you been crocheting along with the Jake’s Blankie CAL on Jessie at Home? The cal goes on for another few weeks, but I finished early with a thinner border. Here’s my Week 10 Jake’s Blankie CAL update.

My Week 10 Progress
Restarting the Border
My original dark-blue border felt a little boring. It needed a little something more to make it pop. So I ripped it out and started over.
I dug in my stash and found a little more white yarn. I’m not entirely sure it’s the same yarn, but if not, it’s very close. There was just enough to do a one-row border, but that’s all it needed.
Then I followed that with 5 more rows of dark blue. The rows alternate between double and single crochet, all worked into back loops. Finally, a round of reverse sc added a decorative edge.
Final Thoughts
With only one main color, I prefer this thinner border over the thicker one in the original pattern. A thick border in a solid color would not be as interesting, and this one makes the squares stand out more.
The yarns I chose make this a bit heavier than I would like for a baby blanket. It’s perfect as a lap / car blanket for a 4-year-old though. A particular 4-year-old, in fact, who is becoming a big brother this year. After all, why should the baby get all the presents? I hope he likes it!
Are you Crocheting Along?
Even though my blanket is done, the CAL is not over, and there’s still time to catch up! Visit the main Jakes Blankie CAL post on Jessie at Home for all the details.
